Product Design

The subject is taught in state-of-the-art multi material workshops and design studios complete with industry standard facilities.

All students will be encouraged to explore ideas of originality and value, to question, challenge and to envisage what could be. Students will develop a range of skills and outcomes for their A Level and this must demonstrate their creativity. These skills should all be evident in a coherent and creative design portfolio.

The Product Design course has been designed to encourage students to take a broad view of product design. The course is a linear course and consist of three units;

  • Non Examined Assessment, worth 50%
  • Examination (2 papers sat June of Year 13), worth 50%

Good design and engineering is vital to our world and economy and it is important that the next generation of designers / engineers are enthused with a passion for creating an innovative and sustainable future.

Entry Requirements:Eight or more GCSE’s Grades 9-4 including a minimum grade 6 in Design and Technology GCSE or equivalent.
