Sociology is the study of society and of human behaviour. Sociology attempts to study a range of social issues such as the media, culture and identity, social inequalities, education and globalisation.

Students will be knowledgeable and understand concepts, theories and topical subject matter, but will also be able to analyse, criticise and evaluate the way in which societies function.

By utilising the knowledge and skills on this course, students should be able to take a more informed and critical look at many aspects of all societies and how they relate to people’s lives. This will also empower the development of transferable skills in informed debate and critical analysis.

The specification gives a broad overview of Sociology, while requiring the study of certain topics in great depth.

Entry Requirements: Eight or more GCSEs at grades 9-4 including a minimum Grade 6 in English Language and Grade 6 in a Humanities subject.
