Mercers’ Talent Award
The Mercers’ Academic Award is designed to support our most ambitious and academically talented Sixth Form students, giving them the tools, funding, and guidance to unlock their full potential and prepare for entry to the country’s most competitive universities and degree apprenticeships.
This prestigious award provides:
- Up to £750 funding to support your studies and enrichment
- Personalised mentoring and UCAS guidance
- Exclusive opportunities, including Oxbridge workshops and mentoring through St Paul’s Girls’ School
- Leadership roles and the option to complete an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)

Investing in Ambition
The award offers £500 in Year 12 and £250 in Year 13, which can be used towards:
- Travel to university open days, seminars, or placements
- Essential IT equipment or course materials
- Summer schools, trips, and extracurricular development opportunities
Who Can Apply
The Mercers’ Academic Award is open to full-time Sixth Form students who achieve a GCSE average point score of 8+ from at least 8 GCSEs and demonstrate commitment to academic progress and personal development. Priority is given to applicants eligible for Pupil Premium/Free School Meals or those with no parental history of higher education. Other strong candidates may also be considered.
Application Process
Applications open after GCSE results and close at the end of September.
Students must submit:
- A personal statement outlining academic goals and ambitions
- A brief proposal showing how the funding will be used
- Shortlisted candidates are invited to interview. Students with a predicted APS of 7+ will also be asked to complete an expression of interest form.
