Religious Studies
Religious Studies is designed to develop a greater understanding and appreciation of religious beliefs and teachings, in addition to the disciplines of ethics and philosophy of religion. Learners will develop their skills of critical analysis in order to construct balanced, informed arguments and responses to religious, philosophical and ethical ideas.
In conjunction with studying developments in Christian thought, students consider the philosophy of religion which tackles some of the deepest and most profound questions we have as humans such as the nature of the soul and the problem of evil. Students also study religion and ethics where they will be debating some of the most fundamental questions for society and our moral code, applying moral questions to modern issues like globalisation, corporate responsibility and relationships.
Students studying religious studies will develop skills that can be applied to a variety of future pathways, sectors and careers. The course develops critical and reflective thinkers, it encourages students to develop an awareness of their own opinions and values and to be able to communicate their ideas in both written and oral form.
