Teaching & Learning

Teaching & Learning

The Teaching & Learning team are on hand to improve the student experience of the classroom.

Students observe at least one lesson per half term.

The students look out for:

  • Progress & Attainment
  • Challenge & Support
  • Behaviour & Ethos
  • Assessment

In class, they ask students questions about their learning and record observations.

Students then meet with the teachers to feedback from a student perspective, highlighting the strengths of the session and suggesting things they might try in their future lessons.

Last year over 20 teachers were observed

The feedback session afterwards with students was particularly useful in gaining insights into other students views of your classroom. It really helped to have a conversation about the lesson with students.

Ms Addison, Teacher of English

Since being observed and receiving feedback I have included a larger range of speaking tasks following on from the feedback given.  This has helped to improve student’s independence with conversational activities.

Ms Flynn, Teacher of MFL

It helped me to think about the experience of my lessons through students eyes. It made me think more about how I involve all students with my questioning. Since being observed I have tried to engage the whole class in questioning more often by using pose, pause, pounce, bounce.

Ms Williams, Head of Humanities
