New LBHF Initiative Launches at Academy
In May, Councillor Rowan Ree visited the Academy for an exciting announcement. Joined by students and Headteacher Mr Kynaston, Councillor Ree went up on the Academy’s roof to officially launch a groundbreaking green investment scheme for Hammersmith and Fulham.
H&F Green Investment, allows residents to directly fund impactful, bill-busting projects. The scheme offers a low-risk opportunity with a fixed 4.6%-a-year interest rate, inviting investors to help fund the installation of solar panels and heat pumps for local community buildings.
The planned retrofit works are part of a broader series of decarbonisation projects aimed at making local community buildings more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, as well as making financial savings.
Hammersmith Academy was chosen as the launch venue for the initiative as the Academy’s ambitious solar project is seen as a leading example of what green investment can achieve, as well as a symbol of commitment to sustainability and serves as a practical example of how green initiatives can be integrated into everyday life.
“We have seen an immediate impact and expect the energy generated to rise significantly over summer” said Mr Kynaston. “Of course, this equates to a substantial financial saving.”

Since going live in September last year, the student-led scheme has also helped prevent an estimated 18 tonnes of carbon emissions – the equivalent of 1,100 trees planted.
The launch of H&F Green Investment marks a significant step forward in the borough’s commitment to sustainability. By empowering residents to invest in green technologies, the initiative not only addresses immediate energy needs but also paves the way for a more sustainable and energy-efficient future.
The green investment scheme promises to be a model for other communities aiming to balance economic and environmental priorities.
