The Admissions Criteria

The Academy is part of the pan-London admissions scheme which requires all parents to complete a preference form. In doing so, Hammersmith Academy must be listed as one of your preferences on the Local Authority form.

The Academy will admit 140 pupils into Year 7 every September (in accordance with the Academy’s published admission number). The APA boundaries are listed in the Admissions Policy which can be downloaded below for entry in September 2023.

If you are unclear whether you live within the Priority Area, please do contact the Academy office for clarification.

All looked after children will be admitted, but will still be required to take the fair banding test.

Those who are offered a place at Hammersmith Academy will be informed in March through the Local Authority.

Fair banding

Every applicant to the Academy will be required to take a fairbanding test.

Every applicant will be placed in one of five bands based on their performance in the test. This does not affect their eligibility for selection. An equal number of students are admitted from each band. Places will be allocated as specified in the Admissions Policy.

Admission Appeals

Parents/carers who are not offered a place for their child may appeal to an independent committee under the provisions of the Schools Standards & Framework Act, 1998.
