@hascience1

We aim to foster students’ curiosity about how the Universe works, so that they enjoy science, succeed in science, and understand how science affects them.

Some scientific topics are taught because they are intrinsically interesting and contribute to the body of general knowledge that all adults should have about the world around them, something often referred to as ‘cultural capital’.

Some scientific topics are taught because they contribute to an understanding of how science is carried out in the real world, and how that affects individuals and society. This ensures that, even if our students decide not to pursue further education in science, they will be equipped to act as active citizens when considering the relationship between science and society.

We teach science with the over-arching aim that our Hammersmith students can go on to study science at a higher level if they choose to do so.
