7 – 11 Economics

Economics is part of our everyday life as we produce and consume many different products and services. It provides an understanding of a wide range of current issues, from the effectiveness of government policy, to the cause of poverty in developing countries. Research skills, data analysis, problem solving, communication and working with others, are all important in the study of Economics.

Assessment breakdown: Two written examinations (each work 50%)

 

Skills Gained

  • Use of technical skills to support analysis e.g. through use of diagrams
  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative data
  • Think critically about the limits of one’s analysis in a broader socio-economic context
  • Draw economic policy inferences and to recognise the potential constraints in their implementation
