Music at Hammersmith Academy aims for students to gain the confidence to perform to others, compose their own pieces and gain a knowledge of different styles and cultures through music. Students will focus on performances and compositions in a range of styles such as African, Gamelan, Pop and Blues. They will develop listening and appraising, composing and performance skills throughout KS3 as well as develop vitally important transferable skills such as self-discipline, team work and leadership.

At GCSE, students continue to develop their three core skills of listening and appraising, composing and performing. They will deepen their knowledge of music theory and learn a variety of musical styles within the 4 main areas of study: Rhythms of the World; Concerto Through Time; Film and Video Game Music; Conventions of Pop.
