Uniform & Appearance

At Hammersmith Academy, we have high expectations of our students’ uniform and appearance. All students are expected to wear full, correct uniform at all times. We want to be proud of how smart we look, developing an excellent reputation for our Academy students in the local community and beyond.

  • Compulsory Academy Bag
  • All students are expected to wear the complete uniform, sports kit and Academy bag
  • Parents will order their children’s Academy uniform at parental interviews on 13th June 2011. Students will be measured for their uniforms and all orders should be placed there and then. Parents and guardians are asked to bring cash or cheques with them. We are currently unable to accept payment by card.
  • You will be able to pick up your child’s uniform before the beginning of term. We will send you more detailed information closer to the time
  • Students will be presented with their ties in a ceremony at the beginning of term.
  • Girls may wear unpatterned black tights or black ankle socks. Boys will wear black ankle socks. All students must have plain black leather school shoes
  • Coats should be plain black with no logos. All outdoor clothing must be removed as students enter the Academy
  • Jewellery - One plain ear stud/small sleeper per ear is the only jewellery permitted for girls and boys. Students are permitted to wear a watch
  • Hair - Hair styles should be moderate, conventional and tidy. Extreme hair dyes and tints are not acceptable. Any hair cut lower than a number 2 cut is unacceptable. Hair fastenings should be plain.
  • Make up - Students are not permitted to wear make-up
  • Shoes - Black plain leather shoes of a sensible design. Closed toes. Black laces only. (Pumps, kickers, training shoes, shoes and boots with deep tread soles or with a logo or reflective design are not allowed.) Maximum heel for females is restricted to one inch.
