ICT
Aims & Ethos
Information & Communication Technology plays an increasingly important role in all our daily lives and in the education of our students.
The National Curriculum requires that all students have experience of the use of computers in a wide range of situations. When we talk about Information and Communication Technology we are referring to the use of computers to store, communicate and manipulate all kinds of data. With The Information Technologists’ Company s one of our sponsors we will be teaching and utilising technology to a standard far beyond what is simply required. Students at Hammersmith Academy will become masters of the technologies that surround them.
ICT will be carefully managed and planned in the Academy so that students will be taught important basic skills as soon as they arrive. Students will be taught in discrete ICT lessons and experience further use in all other subject areas. They will be taught ICT skills that progressively build on each other so that they learn how and when to use ICT for specific purposes.
Our aim is for all students to enjoy lessons, become self sufficient in the careful and appropriate use of computers and equip them with the skills for everyday life. We will teach students based on their individual needs and learning styles.
We aim to:
- Enrich and extend learning throughout the curriculum
- Equip students with transferable skills
- Give students the confidence to take advantage of developments in new technology
- Encourage a positive attitude towards ICT
