Gary is currently Senior Deputy Head at Quintin Kynaston School in Westminster (a ‘Leading Edge’ school rated as ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED in its recent inspection), where his current responsibilities include student pastoral care and management. He will take up his post as Head of Hammersmith Academy in April 2010.
His areas of expertise also include curriculum improvement through teaching and learning, school self-evaluation, and secondary school strategy. He has also had responsibility for Investors in People, ICT, and specialist schools designation, and as his school’s senior school improvement consultant has supported and advised other London schools in various projects, including the rebuild of Pimlico School under the ‘Building Schools for the Future’ programme.
Since graduating from John Moores University in 1991, Gary has gained considerable experience in Londonschools, including senior management positions at Phoenix High School, Hammersmith, and Whiton School, Richmond, before taking up his current post in 2002. He completed with distinction an MA in Education Management in 1998 and NPQH in 2004. He is married with two children, and lives in West London.
